Irene and Richard Frary Library

The Irene and Richard Frary Library is located in the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg Center at 555 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Librarians are available to support you throughout your research process and provide access to all of the Sheridan Libraries’ collections, services, information resources, and tools to advance open, accessible, and collaborative scholarship and dialogue.

A JHED ID is required to enter the Hopkins Bloomberg Center.

Services

• Librarians are available for research appointments or other assistance in person, via Zoom or email at  librarydc@jh.edu.
• Book Pickup Service: Print books and other materials from John Hopkins and partner libraries may be requested for pickup. The hold shelf, accessible whenever the building is open, is located across from the Library Service Desk.
• Multi-function printer/scanner/copiers are located on floors B2 (B218), 2 (near the Library’s Service Desk) and 6 (computer lab). See Printing at the Libraries for more information.

Study, Work and Storage Spaces

• Seating: Over 400 seats in open lounge and study areas throughout the building.
• Group Study: 27 group study rooms, ranging in size from 4 to 10 seats. Three group study rooms are located in the Library: 228B, 228H, and 228L. See Room Reservations for more instructions.
• Computer Lab: Workstations are available on the 6th floor of the building.
• Lockers: Over 500 lockers available for use by students on a daily basis. Most are located on Floor B2.

Key Resources

• Use Catalyst, the JH Libraries catalog, to find books (print and digital formats), articles, streaming video, etc
• To request materials not owned by JH Libraries (or checked out to another user), try BorrowDirect
• Course readings are available via eReserves Course Readings or the eReserves link on your Canvas course sites
• Research Guides by Topic: Created by JH Librarians, these guides provide a range of options for research
• Databases: JH-licensed databases provide access to journal articles, newspapers, data sets, dissertations, and more
• Journals and Newspapers: Search for specific journal or article titles via Catalyst
• Bloomberg: Five terminals are available in room 228J in the Library
• ArcGIS Pro is available on eight Computer Lab workstations
