Planned Library Service Changes

Please be aware of changes in services as the Libraries prepare to close MSE Library for a multi-year renovation. We are working hard to minimize service impacts during this time of transition. That said, some service changes will occur temporarily, primarily in the form of short-term delays as staff and materials are relocated.

  • May 15 – The south side of the Hutzler Reading Room in Gilman Hall will close temporarily for refurbishment with a planned reopening around June 1. Please continue to check this page for updates.
  • May 20 – The Libraries will begin moving remaining books in MSE to off-site shelving. Any items that are mid-move will be marked as available “by request” in Catalyst and may take up to a week to arrive for pick-up. Please plan accordingly. If you have questions or need help, please email asklib@jhu.edu.
  • May 25 – The Libraries will begin emptying lockers, carrells, and study offices. Please make sure you have removed all belongings and returned keys before the May 24 deadline.
  • May 28 – Levels B, C, and D of MSE Library will close.
  • June 21 – MSE Library will close. Hodson Hall will open as a library study space.
  • June 24 The Libraries will open the former Johns Hopkins Club building as an interim student library.
