Receiving ILS Orders

Location & Hours of Operation | Receiving ILS Orders | Due Dates & Renewals
Lending Eisenhower Library Materials | Contact Information

How long does it take for materials to arrive?

  • Generally, it takes about 2-4 weeks from the time a request is submitted to receipt of material by the requestor. This can vary, however, depending on the type of material requested, where it is located, which (if any) libraries own it, and the number of requests currently in process at ILS. Consequently, it is always wise to plan ahead by submitting ILS requests well in advance of deadlines.

What happens when the materials arrive?

Loans

  • Books borrowed through ILS for JHU Homewood faculty, post-docs, and senior staff can be delivered to their department mail boxes on campus (unless restricted to "library use only" by the lending institution). Exceptions: Departments located off the main Homewood campus may be eligible for delivery by campus mail.
  • Books borrowed for all other patrons must be picked up at the Circulation Desk located on M-level of Eisenhower Library. Notification will be sent when books are ready to be picked up.

Photocopies

  • Articles will be delivered to you electronically if you choose this option on your request form.
  • If you prefer, a printed photocopy can be delivered to the address indicated on your request form. For Homewood patrons, ILS generally would prefer to ship to campus mail boxes (to save postage), but patrons requiring home delivery of photocopies may indicate their address when requesting.
