Frequently Asked Questions

  • I am a doctor at the School of Medicine. Can the Express send Eisenhower Library materials to me?

    Only patrons based at the Homewood Campus can use the Eisenhower Express service. The services is partially funded by the Homewood Schools (Zanvyl Krieger School of Arts & Sciences, G.W.C. Whiting School of Engineering, and School of Professional Studies in Business & Education) and is reserved for their use only.
  • Are members of JHU-affiliated research centers, such as the Institute for Policy Studies, CSOS, or CTY eligible for Express service?

    Research centers affiliated with the Homewood Campus, including the Institute for Policy Studies, CSOS, and CTY, can use the Express service. However, materials will not be hand-delivered to the departments because they are not physically located on the Homewood campus. Articles can be sent through campus mail, by fax, or electronically. Books can be placed on hold at the Circulation Desk for customer pickup.

  • I want to pick up my books/photocopies at the library. Can I do that?

    You may elect to pick up your order at the Eisenhower Library. Books will placed on hold for pickup at the Circulation Desk. Articles will be photocopied and left for pickup at the Circulation Desk.

  • Can I have material in the Special Collections Department delivered to me?

    The Express cannot deliver any materials located in the Special Collections Department and the George Peabody Library. Books are not allowed to leave the Special Collections office. Photocopies may be allowed at the discretion of the Special Collections staff. All inquiries should be sent directly to the Special Collections staff.

  • How long can I keep a book delivered by the Express?

    Books checked out to you by the Express have the same loan periods as those you check out yourself from the Circulation Desk. The Express will stamp the book with a due date sticker, but please check your borrower profile in the catalog for updated due dates and to request renewals.

  • When I'm done with a book, do I return it to the Eisenhower Express?

    No. Books should be returned to the Circulation Department, just as with books you check out yourself. Off-site customers should return books via UPS and will be provided with mailing labels to return their books directly to the Circulation Department.

  • Can I request audiovisual materials through the Express?

    No. All Eisenhower Library audiovisual materials (videos, DVDs, Laser disks, 16 mm films, audio recordings, microforms, and CD-ROMs) must be checked out by the patron. The Express cannot deliver audiovisual mateirals to patrons on the Homewood campus.
