Printing from your laptop in MSE Library
For Windows 2000/XP/Vista

(Click here for Mac OS X printing setup instructions)

Before you begin

  • Read and make a copy of these instructions.
  • Read Johns Hopkins IT use policy.
  • Close all programs except your browser.
  • Login to the Johns Hopkins secure "hopkins" network (both wired and wireless will work) using your JHED ID and password.

Install the software

  • Download Printing.zip (14 MB). Make a note of where the file is saved.
  • Extract files from the Printing.zip file that you just saved. This can often be done by right clicking on file icon and then selecting a location where you want to save the extracted files.
  • Close the browser you are using but do not  log off of the network.
  • Double click AIR file (You may see the full file name, AIR.BAT  if you have extensions visible).
  • An installation window will flash momentarily.

PLEASE NOTE: If you have an anti-spyware program running, you may be asked to confirm a change to HOSTS file when you run AIR.BAT file.

  • Double click AIR_CopyPrint_W2K.  (You may see the full file name,  AIR_CopyPrint_W2K.exe, if you have extensions visible).
  • Follow prompts to Install and Finish installation.

You will now have a "Copy Print on AIR" printer installed and can begin printing.  CAVEAT: Do not change the name of this printer or its settings. If you do, the printing will no longer work.

Print your documents

  • You must be logged into the Johns Hopkins secure "hopkins" network using your JHED ID and password.
  • Begin printing as usual using your browser, word processor or other application.
  • At the first popup window select "Copy Print on AIR" as your printer.
  • Enter a name for your print job in the next popup window.
  • Retrieve your printing from any of the public print stations in the library.

If you have a problem, please report it by using Laptop Printing Support Form.

The Johns Hopkins Wireless Network is available in most areas of the Milton S. Eisenhower Library.
