Checklist For Submission of Theses


 Dissertations and Master's Essays  | Guidelines for the Preparation of Dissertations and Theses


 The CBO will use the following checklist at the time of submission. If the submission does not meet the requirements, it will be returned to the student for correction before it is accepted.

1. Acid free paper
2. Original copy
          -laser printed
 
3. Margins consistent throughout
          -1 ½ inches on left or binding side
          -1 inch on other three sides
          -all charts, photographs, illustrations must conform to the    margins

4. Numbering of pages
            -front matter, use small Roman numerals (ii,iii,iv)
            -text, begin with Arabic 1 and continue to last page of CV
            -every page is numbered in order (including blank pages)

5. Title page -
            -is not numbered but understood to be Roman numeral i

6. Abstract
            -immediately follows title page and is Roman numeral ii
            -includes names of readers/advisors at the bottom
            -350 words or less, otherwise edited by UMI
            -is doubled-spaced
7. All pages face front
8. Only one side of paper is used
9. Double spaced
             -abstract
             -text (except footnotes and long quotations)

10. Vita is last page of dissertation
11. Permission letters to reprint or use copyrighted material put at end of theses
12. Submission requirements in CBO
              a. -Ph.D. requires three extra copies of Title Page and two extra copies of Abstract
                  -MA requires one extra copy of Title Page and 
Abstract (none required for Whiting School of Engineering students)
              b. –Ph.D. requires UMI form filled out and signed
              c. –Fees-
