Find Books about Modern Spain

JHU Libraries Catalog

To search for books about Spain, use the Alphabetical Search option and set the search box to Subjects -- Library of Congress.  Try any or all of the following Subject Headings:

Spain--history--1939-1975
Spain--history--1975-
Spain--history--20th century
(you can substitute other centuries)
Spain--politics and government
Spain--social life and customs
Spanish literature--20th century (again, you can use other centuries)
Motion pictures--Spain
Art and literature--Spain
Art--Spain
Spain--civilization

Be aware that there are very specific Subject Headings for some topics. For example, for books on the Golden Age, or Siglo de Oro, use Spanish literature--Classical period.

You can use any of the above words, and any other words or names that describe your project, in a Keyword Search as well. For best results, do a Subject Keyword search, or a Title Keyword search.

Expand your search beyond JHU and search the database of WorldCat. Includes books and other materials in all US research libraries.

Find Articles in Journals, Magazines, and Newspapers

Notes about finding journal articles:

  • Some articles are available in electronic full-text and some are not.
  • If you need to find out if the library has electronic access to a particular journal, consult the library's E-Journals Page.
  • If you cannot find electronic access, use the JHU Libraries Catalog to determine if the library has a print copy of the journal that you need.  Use the Alphabetical Search option to search for the Journal Title
  • You can always ask for help finding a journal article at the Information Desk on M-level.
