• Tesis Doctorals en Xarxa (TDX): Inlcudes PDF files of recent Catalan dissertations.
  
  
• TESEO (Bases de datos de tesis doctorales): Covers theses completed at Spanish universities since 1976. Search by author, title, keyword, abstract, and university.

Locating Dissertations in the U.S.

Digital Dissertations-- new version will begin 7/21  (All US JHU)

The database includes citations for materials ranging from the first U.S. dissertation, accepted in 1861, to those accepted as recently as last semester. Citations for dissertations published from 1980 forward also include 350-word abstracts written by the author. Citations for master's theses from 1988 forward include 150-word abstracts. The full text of more than 1.7 million of these titles is available to order in paper and microform formats, for a fee. As Hopkins patrons, you have on-line access to the complete file of dissertations in digital format starting with titles published from 1997 forward. Simply fill in the order forms and the full text of the dissertation will be available to you online free of charge.

How to find foreign dissertations: a guide from a librarian at UCLA

Foreign Doctoral Dissertations, from the Center for Research Libraries in Chicago. So far, 70,000 out of 750,000 are cataloged. The Center receives on deposit theses from a number of foreign universities and will also order on request titles that are not already held. The Center's Database provides access to records for some titles, but since many are still uncataloged, not finding a title does not indicate that it is not held at CRL.

For either database, do a Subject Keyword search on:  Dissertations Spain bibliography. These will usually treat a particular subject, time period, or institution.

Access to Dissertations

• The Library does not purchase many dissertations from other institutions. However, many are available through InterLibrary Services. U.S. dissertations can often be borrowed from the institutions where they were written, or from another library that has purchaced a copy.
  
• Remember that U.S. dissertations written since 1997 are available for free download from Digital Dissertations.
