Library catalogs do not help the researcher find individual articles on a topic. In order to find journal articles, you must use an index. Finding articles on your topic often is a 2-step process. - First you locate citations for articles in an index. This involves identifying the title, author, and date of the article. And most important, the name of the journal where it appears. - Then you must find out if the library owns the journal. Eisenhower Library subscribes to over 12,000 journals, but it does not subscribe to ALL the journals indexed in any one index. - If the library has an electronic subscription to the journal it may link from both indexing database and catalog.
