It lists all the full-length resources (books, videos, computer files, microforms, etc) owned by the Libraries. Contents of journals are not listed. Tables of Contents of some books are listed. Why Use It? The JHU Libraries Catalog answers the questions: What is owned by these libraries and where is it? General Catalog Tips - It is not necessary to capitalize proper names, title words, etc. - It is not necessary to include punctuation, exception: the "--" in a Subject Browse search (for example: egypt--antiquities) - Do not include articles (like a, an, the) at the beginning of a title (for example: tomb of tutankhamen) - Subject searching is not recommended unless you know the Library of Congress subject heading - Avoid extremely common terms in keyword searches Tips for Locating Books on Near Eastern Studies - For information about an author: * Do a Subject search with the last name first (for example: carter howard) * Do a Subject Keyword search on the author's name (format is not important: howard carter) - For books on a country or period: * Do a combined Keyword search on country and period (egypt and old kingdom, for example) - Do a Subject Keyword search (mummies radiography, for example) - Do a known title (x-raying the pharaohs, for example) and click on the Subject headings.
