 Using Indexes to Find Journal Articles

Library catalogs do not list individual articles on a topic. To find journal articles, use an index. The library generally owns both printed and electronic indexes (databases). Both of these can be used, but databases are quicker and more up to date.
 
Finding articles on your topic is nearly always a 2-step process:
 
- First locate citations for author, title and date of the article, and (most important) the name of the journal where it appears.
   
- Then find out if the library owns the journal. Eisenhower Library does not subscribe to ALL the journals indexed in any one database.  The library does have online access to some journals.  Articles can be borrowed from other libraries via Interlibrary Loan.
