The JHU Libraries Catalog contains records for all JHU Libraries. It lists all the full-length resources (books, videos, computer files, microforms, etc) owned by the Libraries. Contents of journals are not listed. Tables of Contents of some books are listed. Why Use It? The JHU Libraries Catalog answers the questions: What is owned by these libraries and where is it? General Catalog Tips - It is not necessary to capitalize proper names, title words, etc. - It is not necessary to include punctuation, exception: the "--" in a Subject Browse search (for example: israel--history) - Do not include articles (like a, an, the) at the beginning of a Title Search (for example: origins of anti-semitism) - Starting with Subject searching is not recommended unless you know the Library of Congress subject heading - Usually avoid extremely common terms in Keyword searches (history, for example) Tips for Locating Books on Jewish Studies - For information about a person: * Do a Subject search with the last name first (for example: ben-gurion david) * Do a Subject Keyword search on the author's name (format is not important: golda meir) - For books on a country, event or period: * Do a combined Keyword search (israel and independence day, for example) - Do a Keyword search (six days war, for example) - Do a known Title (six days in june, for example) and click on the Subject headings. The main Jewish Studies collections at MSE are found on B-level in BM, BS and DS and on D-level under Blue PJ: | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
