Dissertations and Theses

Obtaining dissertations used to be quite difficult -- the choice was usually buying it, unless you were lucky enough to find an institution that would interlibrary-loan it.

This page explains how to find JHU and non-JHU dissertations and theses.

From outside of Johns Hopkins

Look in a database called "Digital Dissertations" (previously known as "Dissertation Abstracts"). This database provides citations and abstracts for most titles in the database.

Dissertations published from 1997 to the present can be downloaded for free! There are also 24-page previews available.

From Johns Hopkins Graduates

In addition to using the "Digital Dissertations" database to download dissertations 1997+, all JHU dissertations can be requested in Special Collections on A Level.

Here is information about how to request them. The archivist's phone number is 410-516-8323.
