How to find all the books on a subject

  • Guide to locating secondary literature in German Studies: a specially created guide for Johns Hopkins. Includes many obscure print indexes.

  • Use a printed bibliography.
Do a Basic Subject search on an author's last name and the word "bibliography", to locate them in the library.

  • Many reference resources in the library include bibliographies of   individual authors, movements, subjects.

  • Check the KVK: simultaneously search everything from Die Deutsche Bibliothek to the Library of Congress to Amazon.de

  • Look in the NUC- pre 1956 Imprints on D-Level.
Call Number Z 881.A1C28 QUARTO (near the Compact Shelving)

  • Use the resources right under your nose.
Bibliographies and footnotes in books and articles you have already found are your best source of further reading.

  • Consult the Librarian for German
