    Library Tips

    • DON'T get stuck on only using electronic resources.  Your goal is to find the best resource to support your research or answer a question.  Don't let the format (print or electronic) of the information dictate your research.

    • Follow the 15 minute rule - if after 15 minutes of library research , you are not finding material relevant to your topic, stop wasting your time and ask a librarian for help.

    • Confused about where to start? Overwhelmed by the number of choices? STOP, ask a librarian for help.

    • Become familiar with the different types of resources available to you - journal articles, books, patents, handbooks, standards.  Knowing what these resources provide and the questions they can answer can save you time.

    • It's OK to make an appointment with the librarian for your department. Our job is to help you.

    • IT'S OK TO ASK QUESTIONS IN THE LIBRARY.
