Selected Hopkins Resources

Use these indexes and abstracts to identify articles in journals. Some of these databases include the full text of articles, others provide only citations. If you do not find the full text of the article you are seeking, perform a title search in the catalog for the name of the journal to find out if Hopkins owns the particular volume you need.

Contains 880,000 records, covering monographs, periodical articles, critical editions of literary works, book reviews and collections of essays published anywhere in the world from 1920 onwards.

EBSCO host's Academic Search database provides access to journal articles in most academic areas of study. It includes full-text coverage of nearly 1,700 journals from 1990 to the present and abstracts/indexing of nearly 3,000 journals from 1984 to the present.

LexisNexis Academic Universe is a Web-based full-text news and information service that provides access to newspapers, magazines, transcripts, business and legal information and much more.

Provides access to current and retrospective bibliographic information and cited references found in nearly 1,130 of the world's leading arts & humanities journals.
A growing all-inclusive bibliographic spine for 19th-century research, C19 is a one-stop finding tool providing records for: Nineteenth Century Short Title Catalogue; Chadwyck Healey's Nineteenth Century; Poole's  Index to Periodical Literature; Wellesley Index to Victorian Periodicals; Periodicals Index Online and Periodicals Archive Online; American Periodicals Series; House of Commons Parliamentary Papers; Palmer's Index to the Times; and Archives USA.

Provides access to American dissertations accepted at accredited institutions since 1861. Masters theses have been selectively indexed since 1962. Abstracts are included for doctoral dissertation records from July 1980 to the present and for masters theses from 1988. In addition, the full text of dissertations published since 1997 (and some from earlier dates) is available.
Contains full text plus abstracts and bibliographic indexing of the most noted scholarly sources in the humanities, as well as numerous lesser-known but important specialized magazines.


Contains over 300,000 records, "derived from articles published in journals, and in miscellany volumes (conference proceedings, collected essays, Festschriften and exhibition catalogues). All subjects relating to the Middle Ages are included, within the date range 400-1500." Includes "research on medieval history in archaeology, architecture, arts, law, crusades, daily life, ecclesiastical history, historiography, language, literature,  music, philosophy, political thought, religion, and social history.

English and American poetry, drama and prose, plus biographies, bibliographies and key criticism and reference resources. A search in this database also automatically searches the MLA Bibliography, Annual Bibliography of English Language and Literature (ABELL) (the Annual Bibliography of English Language and Literature), and selected Web resources chosen by the editors. Search results in Literature Online also link directly from this database to EEBO (Early English Books Online).
Lit Finder is a literature resource, international in scope and covering all time periods, comprised of five databases that provide extensive full-text content in English or English translation of the works included.
Provides a classified listing and subject index for books and articles published on modern languages, literatures, folklore, and linguistics.
A collection of periodical indexing databases covering the Arts, Humanities, Sciences, and Social Sciences.
