Web Sites


The number and breadth of organizations with a focus on Asia has been growing in recent years. Some sponsor academic, research and cultural activities. Some engage in publications. Many of these institutions can have career potential for individuals who have embarked on Asian language and area studies. Also,the web sites of many of them are useful resources.
 
Listed below are several important organizations based in different countries. These are not affiliated with an educational institution. You may wish to look at the listing of university libraries to link to Asian Studies programs, research centers and institutes at those universities.

 
Abia: South and Southeast Asia Art and Archeology Index

ANU Library Southeast Asian Serials

The Asia Foundation: carries out numerous programs and projects, provides grants; engages in publications 

Asia Society: programs and exhibits at its New York museum and headquarters publications in a range of fields.

Asia Source: comprehensive resource page for practical and reference information

Ask Asia: project of the Asia Society geared especially for educators and students in primary and secondary schools

Association for Asian Studies: primary academic organization for North America, compiles the Bibliography of Asian Studies; engages in publications

East and Southeast Asia: Net Resources

European Institute for Asian Studies: a think tank focusing on policy and research, supported by the European Union and based in Brussels

Institute of Southeast Asian Studies: sponsors research programs and conferences, its publications unit is a major publisher of books and journals

International Institute for Asian Studies: primary international organization, based in Europe, sponsors programs and conferences; engages in publications

SEAsite: Southeast Asian Languages and Cultures
