It is possible to obtain copies of reports, journal articles, and other materials published in Asia. Several projects have been established at other libraries to provide copies in paper or electronic form from various specialized collections.
The web sites of these institutions are listed below, and some contain Chinese or Japanese script. Much of the material is in Chinese, Japanese, or Korean and may be difficult to obtain in the United States. Note that each institution has its own procedures and that some services require a fee.
Digital China Information Center - information retrieval and document delivery service for Chinese Studies Gateway Service Center of Chinese Academic Journal Publications - can order full text articles from academic Chinese journals via fax or online request form - collections from participating libraries in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan Universities Service Centre for Chinese Studies - copies provided from extensive collection that includes research papers, government reports, regional newspapers, journals, and local gazetteers (fang zhi) Japan Information Center - covers all aspects of contemporary Japan, especially social sciences - obtains information from Japanese databases and through the Center's linkage to Japan Japan Documentation Center Database (Library of Congress) - emphasis on reports, government documents and other "grey literature" - collection coverage from about 1990-1998; searchable database - copies of full texts provided
