2009 Student Book Collecting Contest

The Sheridan Libraries' National Advisory Council  Weekend in New York

          During the weekend of March 20-22, the Sheridan Libraries' National Advisory Council met, for the first time in New York City for their biannual council meeting. The members and their spouses gathered on Friday night for dinner at The Lotos Club, hosted by council member Alvin Deutsch. On Saturday, the members convened for a day-long meeting at the Grolier Club- the preeminent private book club in the United States. The meeting included a tour of the Grolier's current exhibition, Vivat Rex!, a behind-the-scenes look at the Club's most extraordinary books; lunch with New York-based writer, Joan Peyser; and a visit to the University Club library. The weekend ended on Sunday with a presentation by Martha Frick Symington Sanger, great granddaughter of Henry Clay Frick. She spoke to the council about ther family's legacy and the hisory of the Frick collection.
