This program allows the Friends to collaborate with the Special Collections and Preservation departments in identifying materials in immediate need of conservation. Criteria for selection are items whose condition has prevented them from being used and those with immediate research need by faculty and students. As a world class research library, our special collections materials enable and enhance quality research. With issues ranging from soiled, fragile and loose pages to worn covers and spines, conservation measures are needed to correct, reverse and/or prevent further deterioration of these items. The Adopt-a-Conservation Treatment program is designed to allow Friends and Donors to help support the level of conservation work needed by these items. A selection of photographs documenting the various stages of conservation treatment may be seen by clicking on the title of the works listed. Items being conserved during 2007-2008: Tasso, Torquato.
