Identifying and Presenting Rare Materials

Our staff are happy to assist in identifying materials that might support and enhance your teaching. In addition to guidance in locating Special Collections materials in the online catalog and our uncataloged backlogs, we can provide a number of subject and resource guides to the collections, many of which have not yet been published.

In addition to subject-based class visits, we offer introductory sessions on the history of the book, book production, descriptive and analytical bibliography, the tools and techniques of book, manuscript, and archival research, and related topics.

Teaching a Class
A Special Collections staff member will assist with the physical presentation of the materials, giving guidance on handling as needed. Curatorial staff can sometimes also assist with the intellectual content of the presentation, depending on staff availability and subject expertise.
For further information, please contact the Curator of Rare Books or the Curator of Historical Manuscripts.
