  • National Center for Education Statistics
    responsible for reporting on the condition and progress of US education. It publishes an extensive set of statistical tables, charts etc. in such sources as Condition of Education, Digest of Education Statistics, Projections of Education Statistics, and Youth Indicators which can be found under Ed Stats at a Glance and Quick Tables & Figures.  There is also a growing collection of survey reports, tabulations, and data sets, including Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System and National Assessment of Educational Progress which can be found under Surveys and Programs Area.

  • Condition of Education
    provides narrative and statistical information on the status of education in the United States for a given year. Sixty indicators are used to track the progress of US education. Six sections group the indicators into access; participation and progress; achievement, attainment, and curriculum; economic and other outcomes of education; size, growth, and output of educational institutions; climate, classrooms, and diversity in educational institutions; human and financial resources of educational institutions. Published annually.
  • Digest of Education Statistics
    the primary statistical source published by the National Center for Education Statistics. It provides data for all levels of education, including information on the number of schools and colleges, teachers, enrollments, and graduates. Statisitcs related to educational attainment, finances, federal funds for education, libraries, and international education. Also included is supplemental information on population trends, attitudes on education, education characteristics of the labor force, government finances, and economic trends provides background for evaluating education data. Published annually.

  • Public School Locater - NCES
    provides a search tool to locate US elementary and secondary schools. Data returned includes number of classroom teachers, total students, student/teacher ratio, and school population by grade and race/ethnicity
  • Projections of Educational Statistics
    provides statistics on elementary, secondary, and higher education, including projections for enrollment, graduates, classroom teachers, and expenditures. Published annually.
  • Public School District Finance Peer Search
  • Science and Engineering Indicators
    Also available in the Government Publication Library's print and microfiche collection: NS1.28/2. Provides public and private policy makers with a broad base of quantitative information about US science and engineering research and education and US technology in a global context. Detailed tables are contained in the appendix. Published biennially.
  • US Department of Education Programs and Resources
    provides details of allocation of Congress funds in education, information on each recipient program and links to their websites
