ArcView Training via the Web

JHU site license users have access to selected ArcView training courses via the ESRI Virtual Campus. Each of the GIS Technology Courses is divided into six modules complete with online reading, exercises, review and an exam. To obtain a course access code from the Government Publications/Maps/Law Library follow these steps:

  1. Visit the Virtual Campus web page and identify appropriate GIS Technology Courses via the Course Catalog. The library can only provide access codes for those courses that appear under the GIS Technology Courses heading.
  2. Once you've identified a course of interest, become a member of the Virtual Campus using the Join Now link from the Virtual Campus home page. Here you'll create a unique Member Logon and Password. With your Member Logon and Password you can now use the Sign In boxes from the campus homepage to access all the "Free Course" modules that the Virtual Campus has to offer. Free modules are usually the first module of a virtual campus course.
  3. To gain full access to any of the GIS Technology Courses you identified in step one above. You'll need an Access Code that can only be supplied by the library. Send an e-mail to Bonni Wittstadt in the Government Publications/ Map/Library and tell her the name of the GIS Technology Course you want to take. Bonni will have the appropriate access code sent to you via email. Most code requests will be processed within forty-eight hours. The Access Code you receive is unique to you and the course you identified. It can not be used by other users or for other courses. A new access code request is required for each new class.
  4. To use your Access Code, simply Sign In to the virtual campus and then type in the course access code in the appropriate box. Access instructions will also appear in the e-mail message with the access code.
