The Sheridan Libraries Collection Management Council was developed to: - Create a more collaborative, strategic vision of collection development
- Create a practicable definition of an on-site, browsable collection
- Assess and analyze the collection in order to understand its strengths and weaknesses and to shape its future direction
- Manage the changing environment of print and electronic formats more efficiently
- Address the physical condition of the collection - what to preserve and what not to preserve
- Facilitate access to the collections, particularly as related to patron needs
