The Sheridan Libraries collections contain over 2.6 million books and more than 30,000 print and electronic journal subscriptions, over 600,000 e-books, over 7,000 videos and DVDs, 215,000 maps, and 4.1 million microforms. Major collections distinguished by format, subject or library location are highlighted below: | Library Digital Collections are collections of digital texts, images, or data either created or developed by the Hopkins Libraries. | | This page provides an overview of the Sheridan Libraries plan to transition to electronic-only for most scholarly journals. | | A US depository library since 1882, the library’s government documents collection is particularly strong in Congressional and statistical material. Materials from international organizations and extensive United Nations e-resources are also available. The map collections contain over 200,000 thematic, topographic, geological sheet maps, wall maps, and atlases. Books, treatises, case law and statutory law material, and over 180 law reviews comprise the law collection. | | The Audiovisual Center provides access to audiotapes, CDs, DVDs, videotapes, computer software, guidebooks, records, slides, and microforms | | Rare books, manuscripts, archives, sheet music, maps and photographs are included among the materials in Special Collections at the Eisenhower Library, the George Peabody Library, and the Garrett Library at Evergreen House. | | The Ferdinand Hamburger Archives is the official archival repository for the Homewood Campus divisions of The Johns Hopkins University: Central University Administration, Zanvyl Krieger School of Arts and Sciences, G.W.C. Whiting School of Engineering, and School of Professional Studies in Business and Administration; it is also the repository for the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies, based in Washington, DC. | | The 300,000 volume non-circulating collection includes books dating from the 15th century, Greek and Latin classics, British and American history and literature, works on decorative arts and architecture, the history of science, exploration and travel, and an extensive map collection. | | Located in one of the university’s historic houses, the Garrett Library’s 30,000 volume collection contains 16th and 17th century English literature and history, works on natural history, American colonial travel and history, and maps. Significant works on the history of architecture and the papers and drawings of Lawrence Hall Fowler are also included. | | Course reserve materials are available in electronic, print, or audiovisual formats. | | Also known as the McNaughton Collection, this is a browsing collection of current, popular fiction and non-fiction books that the library leases giving us the option of keeping or returning the books. These books are available for a two-week loan period (with one renewal) and approximately 25 new titles are added per month with weeding done twice per year. | | | The Sheridan Libraries welcome donations of library materials, printed works, manuscripts and other resources, supporting the research mission of the university. |
