This competition recognizes the range and variety of Hopkins' student efforts on the web, encourages creative work and rewards the best of these efforts. Thirty-four students submitted entries this year, more than doubling the number of last years' contestants. A panel of faculty and Library staff judged the entries. Two prizes were awarded this year. Junior Daniel Cuthbert won a first prize cash award of $1,500 for his site, Three Windows. This site provides a tour and synopsis through Michael de Montaigne's library. The second place prize of $1,000 was awarded to James Warner, also a junior, for Chaos and Fractals, an interactive demonstration of chaos theory. Both sites contained clear intellectual content and demonstrated interactive use of the web. The Sheridan Libraries encompass the Milton S. Eisenhower Library and its collections at the Hutzler Reading Room, Garrett Library and the George Peabody Library. ### Johns Hopkins University news releases can be found on the World Wide Web at Headlines@Hopkins | ||||||||||||||
