JOHNS HOPKINS CENTER WINS INNOVATION AWARD
Software Award Recognizes Program To Aid Time line Creation

The Center for Educational Resources at Johns Hopkins University has won first place in the Higher Education Academic Computing category for Macromedia's Fall 2003 Innovation Award Program for a software program that allows students and faculty to easily create historical time lines.

Macromedia Inc., one of the largest producers of Internet multimedia development software, honors innovative projects that incorporate technology into academic computing with the use of Macromedia software.

Called Timeline Creator, the software developed by programmers in the CER allows anyone to create interactive time lines that can be published to the Web or displayed from a computer screen. Up to six simultaneous time lines can be displayed and images and text can be included in time line events. To check out the software, go to: http://timeline.cer.jhu.edu

The CER works with faculty to help incorporate technology and innovative teaching strategies. Student programmers Roy Hodgman, Greg Jastrab and Arun Nagarajan developed Timeline Creator with the help of Mike Reese, assistant director of the CER and project manager on the timeline project.

The Sheridan Libraries encompass the Milton S. Eisenhower Library and its collections at the Hutzler Reading Room, Garrett Library and the George Peabody Library.
