RARE BOOKS, FREE APPRAISALS AND AUTHORS TO BE FEATURED
AT THE THIRD ANNUAL PEABODY LIBRARY ANTIQUARIAN BOOK FAIR

Published authors and book experts will impart advice about the path to publication and offer free appraisals of antiquarian books during the third annual George Peabody Library Antiquarian Book Fair on Saturday, Sept. 29 and Sunday, Sept. 30. Admission is free and open to the public.

The Peabody Library is located at 17 E. Mount Vernon Place and offers a peaceful, historic location for book lovers to shop for rare and collectible editions, obtain information from antiquarian book dealers and receive free appraisals of private collectibles.

The Antiquarian Book Fair is held in conjunction with the Baltimore Book Festival and kicks off with a discussion entitled, "How I Wrote That Story" on Saturday, September 29, beginning at noon. Jean McGarry, chairperson of the Johns Hopkins Writing Seminars, and authors Richard Burgin, Stephen Dixon and Judith Grossman will participate.

At 2 p.m. on Saturday, science fiction writer Jack L. Chalker joins publishers Richard Chizmar and Michael Walsh for a discussion entitled, "Publishing Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror." And at 4 p.m., aspiring writers can get expert advice on how to get published from a literary agent, book editor and published author.

On Sunday, September 30 at 11 a.m., Allen Stypek and Mike Cuthbert, hosts of the nationally-syndicated radio program "The Book Guys," will spend an hour giving free appraisals of old or unique books. And from noon until 3 p.m., they will tape their radio program, which airs locally on Saturdays at 8 p.m. on WBJC or 91.5 FM.

After the radio show broadcast, Author and frequent National Public Radio commentator Andrei Codrescu will speak about his writing and publishing experiences as a novelist, screenwriter, and editor of "Exquisite Corpse: A Journal of Letters and Life."

Among the booksellers on hand through out the weekend will be: Antiquarian Botanicum, Artery Antique Prints, Clayton Fine Books, Drusilla's Books, Kelmscott Bookshop, Royal Books, Second Story Books and Walk A Crooked Mile Books.
