"GILMAN TO GREATNESS" PRESENTATION HIGHLIGHTS
JOHNS HOPKINS' 125-YEAR HISTORY

Mame Warren, author of the newly published Johns Hopkins: Knowledge for the World, will discuss accounts of her research and the colorful oral histories that went into the creation of this pictorial archive of the University's 125-year history. Ms. Warren's presentation promises a unique and intimate view of Johns Hopkins as she shares the images and voices from her intensive research and many interviews. During her talk, stories will be shared highlighting each Hopkins' campus including Homewood; East Baltimore; the Peabody Institute; the Applied Physics Laboratory: Washington, D.C.; Bologna, Italy and Nanjing, China. The program, which is co-sponsored by the Friends of the Johns Hopkins University Libraries and the Alumni Association, is scheduled for Wednesday, November 1 at 5:30 p.m. in Shriver Auditorium on the Homewood Campus and is free and open to the public.

Warren recently authored a similar publication for Washington and Lee University and is editor for seven other books, including books on Baltimore, Annapolis and the State of Maryland, that she refers to as "visual and verbal portraits." Her many hours of researching documents and photo archives combined with her sensitivity in honoring oral histories make Ms. Warren a prominent figure in this field of publishing.

A reception and book signing will follow in the Clipper Room where copies of the book will be available for purchase. To R.S.V.P. or for further information about this or other events sponsored by the Friends of the Johns Hopkins University Libraries cal l (410-516-8327) or email LibraryFriends@jhu.edu.
