Maryland Clay Catalog

INTRODUCTION

Maryland Clay is a juried exhibition of ceramic works by more than 40 Maryland artists presented in conjunction with Tour de Clay, a six-week celebration of ceramic art featuring over 170 exhibitions throughout the state of Maryland.  Over 80 works showcase the numerous possibilities of art in clay and illustrate the scope of talent throughout the state.  Maryland Clay was juried by noted ceramic artist Jimmy Clark, executive director of Peters Valley Craft Education Center in Layton, New Jersey.

Acknowledgments

Baltimore Clayworks wishes to thank the Johns Hopkins University Sheridan Libraries for providing the George Peabody Library Exhibition Gallery to display the talents of Maryland's clay artists.  The works exhibited represent an active, committed, and diverse group of talented artists whose passion and studio practice is grounded in a shared medium.  Baltimore Clayworks is also indebted to juror Jimmy Clark for his time and expertise in reviewing over 395 entries.
