The Hodson Trust Archivist of the Johns Hopkins University will develop and implement a strategy for documenting the university in the 21st century. This position will concentrate on the administrative records created in the operation of the university and work in concert with the Sheridan Libraries’ institutional repository initiatives documenting the intellectual output of the university. The Hodson Trust Archivist will be responsible for the records of the following five schools: KSAS, Whiting School, SAIS, Carey Business School, and the School of Education.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Survey and assess the types of administrative records created by the university both in electronic and paper formats.
  • Survey and assess current JHU programs for appraisal and retention of university administrative records.
  • Develop a plan for identifying and retiring university administrative records.
  • Develop a plan, including a budget, for the storage of electronic records and paper records.

The Sheridan Libraries encompass the Milton S. Eisenhower Library and its collections at the John Work Garrett Library, the George Peabody Library, the Albert D. Hutzler Undergraduate Reading Room, and the DC Centers. Its primary constituency is the students and faculty in the schools of Arts & Sciences, Engineering, Carey Business School and the School of Education. A key partner in the academic enterprise, the library is a leader in the innovative application of information technology and has implemented notable diversity and organizational development programs.

Qualifications:

Master of Library and Information Science with a specialization in electronic records management. One year experience managing electronic records; experience working in an academic institution. Experience creating and preserving electronic records.

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced degree in history; course work in computer science.
