This position supports the work of the Government Publications/Maps/Law Library by, managing the departments extensive set of web pages, supervising student workers and a part-time processing position, overseeing daily back room operations, and providing reference assistance to readers. Reporting to the head of the Government Publications/Maps/Law Library, responsibilities include: Production of high quality, well maintained web pages; posting, monitoring and revising content to facilitate reader access and use. Work with librarians to assist readers with reference questions using the library’s print and electronic collections. Hire, train, and schedule student workers. Assign daily tasks and supervise work. Check-in and process daily receipts of new materials. Create classification numbers for publications from international/intergovernmental organizations. Maintain in good working order print, microform, and electronic media collections. Manage selection and movement of materials for binding, map deacidification, and retrospective conversion of older items not found in online catalog. Coordinate relationships with other library departments regarding materials processing. Order supplies. The Sheridan Libraries encompass the Milton S. Eisenhower Library and its collections at the John Work Garrett Library, the George Peabody Library, the Albert D. Hutzler Undergraduate Reading Room, and the DC Centers. Its primary constituency is the students and faculty in the schools of Arts & Sciences, Engineering, Carey Business School and the School of Education. Some internal training is anticipated. Experience with web page development, and ability to work with a wide range of library users is essential.
